The Planned Giving Council of San Antonio will recognize two outstanding planned giving practitioners at its December luncheon.  Mary Downey Mary Downey, president of Downey Associates, L.L.C., was selected Planned Giving Officer of the Year in recognition of her exemplary service to the planned giving profession. Jeanie Wyatt, CEO of South Texas Money Management, Ltd., was selected Planned Giving Allied Professional of the Year in recognition of her advancement of the cause of philanthropy and planned giving. Downey consults with nonprofit organizations to help them strengthen their financial foundations by establishing planned giving programs. Her clients have included Our Lady of the Lake University, the Cancer Therapy & Research Center, Trinity University, the Children’s Shelter and CASA Texas. She had a successful career in trust banking and investment management before entering the planned giving field more than 12 years ago.
 Jeanie Wyatt Wyatt is the founder and CEO of South Texas Money Management, a company which has over $1.5 billion in assets under management and offers investment advisory services to individuals, trusts, estates, employee benefits plans, and endowments. Her company has offices in San Antonio, Austin, and Houston to serve its clients.
Prior to starting her own investment company, Wyatt spent 27 years in the Texas banking business, including her last position at Cullen/Frost Bankers where she directed Frost Investment Services. Her column about investing appears in the San Antonio Express-News.
Featured speaker for the event will be Harvey Najim, philanthropist and founder of the Harvey E. Najim Family Foundation. For 26 years, Najim focused on creating a successful business, Sirius Computer Solutions, Inc. Last year, Thoma Cressey Equity Partners acquired an equity interest in Sirius. At that time, Najim used $75 million of his proceeds to create his foundation, which awards grants to children’s charities.The meeting will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 11 at The Plaza Club, located in the Frost Bank Tower.
