Members of the Steele and Clemens High School National Honor Society volunteered their time at the San Antonio Chapter of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition’s fundraiser Sept. 29 at McAllister Park.

Students worked side-by-side all day cooking popcorn, helping the clown entertain the children, decorating the park and performing clean-up duties. The students are required to perform at least eight hours of community service each month to fulfill their requirements as NHS members. According to Terry Whitson, NHS sponsor at Steele, the students represented their schools and organization admirably.

The NOCC event was held to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and to raise funds to educate women about the symptoms of ovarian cancer.
