Carlos Uresti Senate District 19 The Texas Police Chiefs Association, the Texas Depart-ment of Public Safety, more than 500 local Texas police departments and sheriff’s offices, and a European-based web company, Trace.com, have partnered to provide a Web site where Texans can, at no cost. • Investigate items before buying them to determine whether or not they are stolen. • Report recently stolen property to law enforcement. • Create a safe, anonymous inventory of their valuable property that could assist in reclaiming the property if it is stolen. Trace offers Texans a new way to help law enforcement fight theft-related crime. Having a single database of stolen items that all Texans - from recent crime victims, to eBay customers, to antique dealers and pawnbrokers - can access will help law enforcement identify and return stolen property. Go to http://www.trace.com/ to access Trace.com. The Web site is very user friendly and provides advice and information on many topics concerning theft. There were nearly 1 million property crimes in Texas last year. Hopefully, by using Trace.com Texans can reclaim more stolen property in the future. Carlos I. Uresti (D) is the state senator from District 19, a 23-county area stretching along the U.S.-Mexico border from San Antonio to El Paso County, including Bandera and Bexar counties.
