TMI student stars in “Annie” PDF Print E-mail

ImageSeeley Stephens, a sixth-grader at TMI – The Episcopal School of Texas, will play the title role in the Josephine Theater’s holiday-season production of “Annie,” the classic musical based on the Little Orphan Annie comic strip.

The daughter of Judge Charles and Kathleen Stephens of Fair Oaks Ranch, Seeley is a member of the Showstoppers Academy, a children’s musical-theater group based at the Josephine. Since age 4, she has taken part in all Showstoppers production and also has appeared as the Messenger in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at the Josephine and as Little Cosette in TMI’s production of “Les Miserables.”

Seeley, age 11, also takes voice lessons from Dr. Diana Allan, associate professor of voice at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Performances of “Annie” are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday through Dec. 30, at the Josephine Theater, 339 W. Josephine St., in San Antonio. Tickets are $8 to $20; call 734-4646 for details and reservations

“Annie” opened on Broadway in 1977 and won several Tony Awards that year, including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Book of a Musical.
