The Citizen’s Sheriff’s Academy is a 10 week course designed for the citizens of Kendall County to learn more about how their sheriff’s office operates and the day-to-day challenges the deputies face. Beginning Sept. 18, the participants met weekly and received instruction on criminal law, traffic stops, the criminal justice court system, patrol duties, county jail overview, criminal investigations, as well as firearms proficiency. “The purpose of the Academy is to enhance the relationship between the sheriff’s office and the community and to give them a better understanding of our values, organization and operations” said Sheriff Roger Duncan. The next Citizens Sheriff’s Academy is slated to begin next March. Contact the Sheriff’s Office at (830) 249-9721 if you would like more information.
