ALAMO HEIGHTS Open container in vehicle Nov. 5, 3:35 p.m., 6900 block of Broadway: An officer stopped a car for speeding and smelled alcohol in the car. He saw a six-pack of beer in the car, with three cans removed. The driver and occupants stated they had no open containers and the officer had them step out of the car, where three open, half-empty beers were found. All three were issued citations for the possession of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. Burglary of vehicle Nov. 5, 5:29 p.m., 4800 block of Broadway: A car owner reported that while he was in a local restaurant, his car was broken into and numerous items were missing, including a cell phone, laptop computer, video camera, digital camera and digital music player. The owner said he might have left one of his doors open. Vandalism Nov. 6, 3:35 a.m., 6600 block of Broadway: Three officers responded to a possible burglary in progress. A person said he noticed the door and window of his neighbor’s house appeared to be broken out. The officers entered the residence and found it to be empty, but it had been vandalized. The suspect had poured soy sauce all over the bed and wall and window of one of the bedrooms, and a computer had been placed in a bathtub and the water turned on. Photos were taken of the scene and an attempt was made to contact the owner. Criminal mischief Nov. 6, 2:48 p.m., 6100 block of Broadway: The owner of a pickup truck reported one of his tires had been slashed while he was parked in a parking lot. The driver suspected several employees of a local business as the culprits. Theft Nov. 7, 5:19 p.m., 6900 block of Broadway: A student reported her purse had been stolen from a school locker room. Stolen vehicle Nov. 9, 7:15 a.m., 100 block of Edgewood Place: A car owner reported his pickup truck had been stolen from his driveway sometime during the night. He gave a detailed description to police and the vehicle was entered into the stolen car database. The driver later reported he found his briefcase, which was in the truck, on Austin Highway, near Rittiman. TERRELL HILLS Possession of marijuana Nov. 8, 2:24 a.m., 800 block of Austin Highway: After a computer check of a vehicle passing the officer’s location was completed, it was found the registration has expired over a year ago. The car was pulled over and when the officer questioned the driver, she said she had no current driver’s license or proof of insurance. As the driver exited the car, the smell of pot was evident. After calling for backup and checking computer records for the vehicle, the driver began to cry profusely, saying there were several “roaches” in the drink holders. One of the officers found these, and upon further searching, found a plastic bag in a CD case in the door pocket that contained a green leafy substance. The driver was arrested and charged with possession and taken to the police department for processing. The car was impounded and the suspect brought to the San Antonio magistrate’s office for booking. Burglary of house Nov. 8, 8:28 a.m., 600 block of Morningside: A homeowner reported he had found the door that led from his house to his garage had been pried open and that a variety of power tools with a worth totaling nearly $3,800 were missing. A detective later came and took photographic evidence and got a list of the brand names and serial numbers of the missing equipment, as well as a list of employees and subcontractor who might have had access to the area. Theft Nov. 10, 10:27 a.m., 700 block of Morningside: A homeowner reported a bicycle and a leaf blower that was on his back porch for the past week were missing. Burglary of vehicle Nov. 11, 12:13 a.m., 300 block of Elizabeth: A homeowner reported his vehicle had been broken into during the night. There were glass shards from the window in the driveway and one of the doors was slightly open. He had heard the car alarm twice during the night, but had shut it off with his remote. Upon investigation, a slide-out car radio was discovered to be missing. Burglary of building Nov. 12, 9:31 a.m., 700 block of Elizabeth: A complainant said someone had entered the building in the past several days and stole a variety of power and hand tools worth $575. The responding officer was able to lift several fingerprints from the scene. Burglary of house Nov. 12, 4:10 p.m., 600 block of Elizabeth: A couple reported their house had been broken into during the day and someone had stolen a variety of electronic equipment, clothes and other items worth more than $3,000 from different rooms in the house. Burglary of vehicle Nov. 15, 10:25 a.m., 500 block of Ivy: A car owner reported his truck had been broken into sometime over the previous two days and several power lawn tools had been stolen from the bed of his truck, where they were secured by a cable lock. Criminal mischief Nov. 20, 11:31 a.m., 100 block of Canterbury: A homeowner reported a large inflatable turkey that was on her lawn had been punctured. Theft Nov. 23, 7:25 p.m., 800 block of Wiltshire: A homeowner reported that a locked trailer containing two motorcycles and a scooter worth more than $5,000 was stolen from his property. The chain securing the trailer had been cut. Possession of weapon Nov. 25, 12:53 a.m., 100 block of Elm: After making a traffic stop, an officer smelled an intense marijuana odor coming from the car. After calling for backup, the car was searched and it was noticed all the occupants reeked of pot. A partially smoked cigar was found in the ashtray, and upon further investigation, it was found there was marijuana where the tobacco was supposed to be. One occupant was arrested for possession of marijuana. A search of a backpack in the car revealed two butterfly knives and another occupant was arrested for possession of a prohibited weapon. The two arrestees were taken to police headquarters for processing and the vehicle was impounded. One other occupant was driven back to her dormitory at a local university, and the two suspects were taken fro booking to the San Antonio magistrate’s office and put in jail.
