Cibrian: District 8 blessed PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 13 December 2007
Dear District 8 Residents,

We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful city with wonderful natural resources and community pride. The City of San Antonio is working diligently in the preservation of our environment through the development of Voelcker Park, Gorrell Memorial Park, Bonnie Conner Park, the Denman Estate and the Linear Creekways. We also have incredible neighborhood leaders who show tremendous commitment to our community. I have created several taskforces to address the issues that have been brought to my attention by these leaders. We had incredible input at the community budget meeting and the holiday reception and town hall meeting held this week. To encourage participation and involvement in our neighborhoods, District 8 staff has contributed to and coordinated many events this year. A few of these events include, Graffiti Wipeout, Neighborhood Sweep, and the mural painted at the Springtime pool, which were hugely successful in beautifying our district. In addition, nearly 500 free flu shots were administered and 100 free trees were given out at the District 8 fall festival. At the back to school fair, over 500 backpacks were given to underprivileged school children. Also, I am very pleased to announce the grand opening of a new library in District 8, the John Igo Library to be opened by Dec 8.

As always, my staff and I are here to serve you and as many of you know, we have moved our district office to 11124 Wurzbach Road, Suite 205. I have worked very hard this year to serve District 8 and the citizens of San Antonio. I would like to wish you and your family a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year.

Yours in public service,

Diane G. Cibrian
City Councilwoman
District 8
