Parents of Comal ISD high school students and soon-to-be high school students are encouraged to attend one of two informational meetings on the new high school class schedule to take effect at the beginning of the 2008-09 school year.

The two meetings will begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Smithson Valley High School and Wednesday at Canyon High School. Both meetings will take place in the schools’ cafeterias.

Canyon and Smithson Valley high schools currently operate on the block schedule, sometimes known as the A/B schedule (Canyon Lake High opened this year and is on a traditional 7-period day schedule).

A High School Schedule Committee consisting of high school teachers, counselors, and principals has been studying the class schedule issue and has selected the seven-period day with a “zero hour” to be implemented in the 2008-09 school year.

The informational meetings on Dec. 18 and 19 will review details of the seven-period traditional schedule and how it will work across the entire curriculum, including band, athletics, and Career and Technology Education courses.

For more information contact the Curriculum and Instruction department at (830) 221.2079.
