This past year has been a year of changes, maturity and accomplishments for the city of Bulverde. The following is a listing of major actions by City Council and staff during 2007:

• Hired a new police chief and expanded police department.

• Made major revisions to zoning and subdivision ordinances to include table of commercial uses.

• Updated sign ordinance for no-fee non-profit signage.

• Revised building permit fee structure to include no fee for certain residential permits.

• Approved several master plats for development.

• Approved Johnson Ranch phase one final plat.

• Denied proposed water tower on John Charles.

• Designated and animal control committee to revise the animal control ordinance.

• Denied Highway 46 expansion.

• Proposed new inter-local agreement with Comal County to retain ETJ jurisdiction.

• Approved permits for new library construction.

• Authorized clearing of Lewis Creek.

• Initialized discussions with GBRA to insure adequate water supply for city and surrounding area.

•Home Rule Charter Commission and election.

• Lowered property tax rate.

• Approved environmental contract for hazardous spills.

• Redesign of City Hall lobby to make it more “citizen friendly.”

• Worked with TxDOT for lower speed limits and increased safety signage on portions of State Highway 46 within the city of Bulverde.

• Worked with Bill Brown Elementary Administration and CISD to achieve better traffic flow during arrival and departure times.

Next year will be another challenging year for the city of Bulverde. With the help and support of our citizens, as well as City Council and staff, the city will accomplish much in the new year.
