Regarding Viewpoint dated Dec. 20: While Gregg Eckhardt is having sugar plum fairy dreams starring his wife, Alina, and her two councilpals Guillerma Contreras and J. B. Richeson, a majority of Helotes citizens are having nightmares.

Disregarding the will of voters who swept their three comrades out of office last May, this council trio has systematically dismantled and disregarded city ordinances to give themselves total control.

Watching them during city council meetings is a lesson in abuse of power and brings to mind the saying, “Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.”

While Eckhardt may be turned on by his wife’s cocky arrogance during City Council meetings, many of us in the peanut gallery are appalled.
