Barbara Twogood Twogood Tidbits As another year comes to an end, it is not uncommon to look back at “the good,” “the bad” and, yes, even “the ugly.” I am fortunate in that I really have to struggle to find “any” bad in my life! The last few years have just gone by so fast and my husband and I both comment on how much life has changed, but all for the better. As I sit here in the comfort of our warm home; even though my nose is running constantly and I’m also coughing and sneezing (the ugly?), I still find so much to be grateful for. Without hesitation, what tops my list is my wonderful, considerate husband. I’m the first to admit that he spoils me, and is always looking for ways to make life easier, such as making breakfast for us today. All over the news are stories of sadness and tragedy, both locally and worldwide. There are still stories of good Samaritans helping those in need and the babies that have arrived during this holiday season. We now have the ads pushing after-holiday and end-of-the-year sales. Soon we will have those dreaded tax forms in hand. Not to be forgotten, the presidential race will heat up and look for ways to impress us through all the media sources. Personally, I look forward to another Spurs championship run! I am not a believer in the tradition of making New Year resolutions … that’s just another avenue that is sure to lead to a feeling of defeat. But there is nothing wrong with looking at ways to make things better. Once my head is clear of this cold, I hope to start working on my mental “to do” list — starting with clearing out closets and getting rid of “stuff” that neither of us will ever use. Even though we both can afford to loose a few pounds, the closet is full of items we probably wouldn’t wear again even if we did get back to a healthier lifestyle. My next project is to update our personal information, which includes an inventory of household items for insurance purposes and to make that appointment for estate planning to determine what legal papers need to be drawn up. I hope you will look around at all you have to be thankful for and make note of the projects that need to be taken care of in this new year. Happy holidays and thank you to all our faithful readers!
