Courtesy Photos SAN MARCOS — A group of 18 Career and Technology students from Clemens High School participated in — and swept — the first-ever High School IT Symposium, sponsored by the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) student chapter at Texas State University. The event was held at TSU’s McCoy College of Business in conjunction with the annual Region 3 AITP Student Conference. The students were not only given the opportunity to participate in the conference, but also competed in their own computer-related competitions. In the office solutions competition, Clemens swept the top places. Winners include: David Guyott, first place; Courtney Boedecker, second; Tyler Kincer, third; and Richard Braud, honorable mention. The students were awarded cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50 for their high school. The MS Office Solutions competition allowed students to utilize skills learned in Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel and apply them to simulated business problem statements. The contest followed U.I.L. standards and practices. In addition to the contest, students were able to attend sessions given by business professionals from the IT industry and learn more about AITP and the McCoy College of Business.
