An open letter to the mayor, City Council and city staff of Boerne

Thanks to your diligence, perseverance and hard work, it appears we will mark an important step in the implementation of the wonderful vision of our Master Plan.

A planned community, Esperanza, will begin.

Boerne will not be “just another bedroom community” of San Antonio.

We will be a shining city in the beautiful Texas hills of Kendall County. Our historic past is the foundation of our future.

We have come together to move forward with a unique quality of life and great opportunities for all our families.

Thanks for your coverage over past months of the city of Boerne’s discussions with Marlin Atlantis concerning our Esperanza multi-use project.  We appreciate Jonathan Nolte’s thoughtful reporting, especially as we hopefully move to a point of decision.

I am quoted in your most recent story (Jan. 17) as willing to consider up-front annexation of the Esperanza tract as an alternative to development under the agreement we have been negotiating with the city.  Assuming I made that comment, let me tell you I was wrong.  Our current plans would not work under such a scenario.
