By Cindy Stone Guest Contributor On Monday, we were pleased to meet and honor our current members who donate their time to deliver meals to those who are home-bound. We are proud to be involved with this important service to our community, and we appreciate every one of the volunteers. Assistance with income tax preparation will be available again this year, beginning on Feb. 6. This service is available to all seniors in our area and you don’t have to be a member of Bulverde Senior Center. A BSC retiree from IRS donates this community service, as he did last year. Call BSC at (830) 438-3111 for further information on the items you’ll need to bring and to schedule your time slot. The Laurels/Haven, located in Stone Oak, has invited Bulverde seniors to take part in their Winter Getaway trip on Feb. 28 and 29. The mini-vacation includes: Chartered roundtrip bus ride; Rainforest pyramid tour Colonel paddle-wheel boat ride; Aquarium pyramid tour; Sea monsters at IMAX 3 D theater; Catered dinner; Accommodations and breakfast at a Best Western Hotel; Forbidden gardens in Katy; Lunch. The total cost for this mini-vacation will be $150 each for couples sharing a room, or $200 for a single room. We will travel by chartered bus. For more information on this fun get-away, call Rosie Avila at (210) 404-2687, or Gail Guadalupe at (210) 404-9055. Table tennis and Tai Chi are popular additions to our exercise program. Calendars of events are available. We encourage you to come by and pick up one, so you won’t miss any events that you’d enjoy. Become involved, make friends and stay healthy. Don’t forget to save your pull tops from canned drinks to benefit the Ronald McDonald Houses. Drop-off eye glasses that are no longer used. There is a box available at BSC for donations to the Food Bank of Bulverde. I just verified that items besides food are needed. The Bulverde Senior Center also appreciates donations to be ear marked for our building fund, or other BSC activities serving our community. “It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it.” – Albert Einstein
