Burglary of vehicle

Dec. 30, 10:26 a.m., 1000 block of Ivy: A resident reported the right front passenger window of his truck had been smashed and a radar detector worth $400 had been stolen. Photographs were taken of the scene and fingerprints were lifted from the doors.

Burglary of vehicle

Dec. 30, 1:23 p.m., 900 block of Ivy: An officer was waved down in reference to the burglary of a vehicle. A man reported he was called earlier that day by someone who said they found his checkbook at a gas station at Burr and Harry Wurzbach. On his way to meet the caller, he saw the officers on Ivy and stopped to report the burglary of his van. He said upon his return home, he noticed several other items were missing and wanted to make a report.

Thief breaks into vending machine

Dec. 26, 9:13 a.m., 6900 block of Broadway: A maintenance supervisor at Alamo Heights High School reported that five vending machines near the Muledome had been broken into. The locking mechanisms of the machines had drill marks, and metal shavings and broken drill bits were found nearby. Some type of lubricant was also found around the drill holes. Two money boxes from the machines were also found nearby. The officer took digital photos of the crime scenes, dusted the money boxes and took fingerprints.

Money stolen from restaurant

Dec. 29, 7:02 a.m., 4600 block of Broadway: A restaurant manager reported that she found the doors unlocked when she came to work and discovered the money drawer was missing, as was $178 in bills and coins. The manager believed one of the employees responsible for lockup the previous night was the thief, but other employees said they saw the suspected person chain and padlock the door when he closed the previous night.

Burglary

Dec. 31, 12:51 p.m., 100 block of Rosemary: A woman told the reporting officer someone had entered her apartment in the last five days and had stolen several items, and that her apartment had been unlocked.

Criminal mischief

Jan. 2, 11 a.m., 300 block of Argo: A woman who had been out of town for a week reported she found pry marks on her front and back doors and a broken jamb on the rear door. It appeared that no entrance had been made.

Theft

Jan. 2, 12:30 p.m., 100 block of Arcadia: A woman reported that several hundred dollars had been stolen out of an envelope in her nightstand. She also said that a cable television installer had been alone in that room for a brief period of time. Nothing else was missing from the apartment.

Theft

Jan. 3, 12:28 p.m., 300 block of Wildrose: A woman came to the police station to report several power tools worth more than $1,000 had been stolen from a construction site.

Burglary of vehicle

Jan. 5, 8:44 a.m., 100 block of Corona: A resident reported both his vehicles had been broken into during the night. There was damage to both cars, and several items were taken from one of them.

Criminal mischief

Jan. 5, 6:45 p.m., 600 block of West Castano: A resident reported he found the driver’s-side door lock of his truck broken and investigations showed a flat-head screwdriver had done the damage. No entry was gained into the vehicle.

Burglary of vehicle

Jan. 6, 1:21 p.m., 500 block of Lamont: A driver reported that while his truck had been parked in front of his home, someone had broken the driver’s-side window and had stolen an iPod left in his vehicle.

Criminal mischief

Jan. 6, 4:50 p.m., 300 block of Harrison: Police were contacted when a man reported the window on his truck was broken out. The officer observed that the door locks had been punched out as well. Nothing was taken, even though there were several expensive items in plain sight.

Traffic stop nets weapon

Jan. 7, 3:11 a.m., 4700 block of Broadway: After stopping a car for an illegal lane change, the officer found the driver didn’t have a license or insurance, and he smelled of marijuana. A computer check revealed the driver’s license was suspended. The driver and passengers were removed from the car while it was searched. One of the passengers was asked if she had a weapon and she said she did, and a search turned up a butterfly knife in her shoe. The search of the car turned up marijuana flakes and seeds, but not a usable amount. The officer told the driver the car would be impounded since none of the occupants had a driver’s license and the car was uninsured. The driver also received citations for falling to signal, no insurance, expired registration and no license.

Theft

Jan. 8, 4:16 p.m., 100 block of Arcadia: A resident walked in to the Alamo Heights Police Department and reported the license plate had been stolen from her car, which was parked in front of her residence.
