Bulverde Mayor

Well folks, it’s that time of year again to gear up for local elections.

Four positions, including mayor and three council seats, will be on the ballot this year to represent the residents of Bulverde. Council members serve in an “at-large” capacity representing all residents instead of those in a particular district so any resident can file.

The three people that have the most votes will be elected to council while the candidate who has the most votes for mayor will be elected. Terms that will expire in May are Councilman Mobley, Coun-cilman Parker, Councilwoman Cole and my-self. Feb. 11 through March 10 is the period for candidates to file for office.

I encourage residents who are interested in running for an elected position to contact the city secretary for more information. The pay isn’t great and the hours are long, but service to the residents of this city is worth the time and effort.

Over the past few weekends there has been a dramatic increase of business temporary signs along State Highway 46 in the city’s right-of-way.

All entities (business, home-owners, organizations) are reminded that signs cannot be placed in the city right-of-way, regardless of event or business. The city has ordinances for event and garage sales that can be placed on property, but again, no signage is allowed in the right-of-way.
