The Herald reserves the right to edit “Letters to the Editor” for length (250 words, maximum) and clarity, as well as for legal purposes. ANY LETTERS EXCEEDING 250 WORDS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR PRINT. During political season, it is a long-standing Herald policy NOT to allow announced candidates for city, county and state offices to submit Letters. The Herald will stand by this decree once again this election season. Backers and/or supporters of any particular candidate may submit letters of support or endorsement; however, letters critical of any candidate will be scrutinized before being published. The final printing of political submissions will be the Thursday, May 1 publication. All letters must be turned in by 5 p.m. Friday, April 25 to be considered. The Herald limits writers to one letter submission per calendar month. The submission deadline is 5 p.m. Friday for consideration in the following week’s publication. All letters must include the author’s name, address and telephone number (address and telephone number are used for verification only and will not be printed). Letters received via fax or e-mail also must include a name, address and telephone number. Letters submitted anonymously, or as “chain letters,” will not be published. Letters received without telephone numbers and/or addresses also may be disregarded. Contact us at: • E-mail –
