Silver Spurs dance team
The Smithson Valley High School Silver Spurs competition dance team, under the direction of Nikki Howell, Silvers Spurs Director, participated in a regional dance competition Saturday, February 9th at New Braunfels High School. Competing against dance competition teams from other high schools across the greater San Antonio area, the Silver Spurs gained several awards in preparation for another regional contest to be held March 1st and National competition to be held in Fort Worth in late March.

Awards garnered by the Silver Spurs team were:

- Team Sweepstakes
- Officer Sweepstakes
- Large Team Modern State Champions
- Large Team Hip-Hop State Champions
- Large Team Kick State Champions
- 1st Runner-Up Officer Modern
- Presentation Awards
- Outstanding Technique
- Outstanding Choreography 

For individual awards, Amanda Tucker received a 1st place Soloist 9th&10th Grade Division. In addition, Amanda and Tiffani Collins received 1st Runner Up Duet.
