Car burglar gets guns and ammo

Feb. 2, 5:15 p.m., 100 block of West El Prado: A walk-in complainant said her husband’s truck had been broken into and a number of hunting items, including rifles, handguns, scopes, binoculars, valued at almost $20,000 were missing.

Driver ditches drugs, gets busted for open container

Feb. 3, 1:20 a.m., 4900 block of McCullough: A patrol officer clocked a speeder and also noticed the car had an unreadable paper tag, so he hit his lights and then saw the passenger throw a small plastic baggie out the window. After calling for cover, the officer had the driver get out and handcuffed him, and the officer asked if the driver knew what the passenger threw out the window. The other officer retrieved the bag which appeared to contain marijuana. The passenger was ordered out, handcuffed, and asked about the baggie and both said they knew nothing about it. The officer informed the pair that the incident was recorded on the patrol car’s camera, and told them they were being charged with possession of marijuana. When the vehicle was searched, an open bottle of malt liquor was also found and the driver was also cited for the open container. The pair was taken to the magistrate’s office for booking and the vehicle was impounded.

That’s why they call it dope

Feb. 4, 1:30 p.m., 5100 block of McCullough: An officer was called to assist two San Antonio police officers who said when they pulled into a parking lot at the location, they saw the two men in the car next to them passing a red pipe back and forth. After a search, the SAPD officers confiscated a bag of a leafy green substance, which both men claimed as theirs. The OPPD officer took custody of the men and took them to be processed and to have the contents of the bag tested. The vehicle was impounded. The contents of the bag tested as positive for marijuana, weighing 0.1 ounces. Both men were taken downtown for booking.

Traffic stop turns up open brewskis

Feb. 5, 7:21 p.m., 4300 block of McCullough: After an officer saw a vehicle with no registration sticker, he observed the car going around another vehicle in a no-passing zone. After stopping the car, the driver was found not to have a license or registration. After noticing a strong odor of alcohol coming from the car, the driver and passenger were told to exit the vehicle and they were patted down. The officer found a cold can of beer that had been poured out. The passenger said it was his and was cited for having an open container of alcohol. The driver was cited for no license or insurance and the vehicle was impounded.

Arrest evasion nails passenger for warrants

Feb. 7, 2:54 p.m., 5200 block of McCullough: A patrol officer noticed a car on McCullough with an expired inspection sticker. The officer turned around, turned on his lights and attempted to catch up with the driver and stopped the car on the 100 block of Lovera. When the driver opened the door, the officer ordered him back in the vehicle, but the driver took off running instead. As the officer came around the passenger side, he saw the passenger with his hands up, so he ordered him out of the car and cuffed him. The passenger said the driver may have warrants and that’s why he ran. After the car was searched, two pipes for smoking drugs and a hand scale were found, and the passenger was found to have three outstanding warrants as well. The vehicle was impounded.
