Friday

Friends of the Library annual book sale is set Friday through Sunday at the Kendall County Fairgrounds. Friday hours are noon to 5 p.m. The sale continues Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free and there is no charge for parking at the fairgrounds.

Customers can pay with cash or check. No credit card purchases will be offered.

Saturday is “bag day.” Patrons will be able to purchase all the books they can fit into a library-provided bag for $5. Afterward, the Friends will be taking sealed bids for all sale remainder items. The successful bidder must remove books from the sale site by close of business March 3.

The Junior League of San Antonio’s 84th annual Rummage Sale is set Friday to Sunday at the Freeman Coliseum, 3201 E Houston St No. A in San Antonio. For ticket information visit www.jlsa.org or call (210) 826-2473.

Saturday

Leon Springs Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p. m. at the Leon Springs Dance Hall, 24135 W. Interstate 10, in the parking lot (Boerne Stage Road exit, across from Rudy’s Barbecue). Vendors offer a variety of edibles, from fresh produce to honey, nuts, breads, jams and jellies. Sunday

Bicyclists can take part in the Fair Oaks Afternoon Ride, starting at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Fair Oaks Ranch Center. Mileage varies. Call (210) 698-6625 for details.

March 12

Boerne High School PTO is in the process of organizing a new Parent-Teacher Organiation for Boerne-Champion High School and needs input. If interested, make plans to attend the Boerne High School PTO meeting on March 12 at noon in the BHS library. A slate of officers for the new Boerne-Champion PTO is being formed; submit the names of anyone you would like to nominate for the positions of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer by March 7. Keep Boerne Beautiful (KBB) is taking applications from Kendall County residents who wish to be considered for upcoming vacancies on the organization’s board of directors. High school students and youths especially are urged to apply for volunteer positions that require minimal time commitments. KBB is an all-volunteer organization that empowers Boerne residents through education to take responsibility for enhancing their community environment. The Men’s Final Four is seeking nearly 2,000 volunteers to fill more then 3,500 shifts. Volunteer responsibilities include a wide range of tasks, from greeting incoming fans at the airport to helping with NCAA Hoop City and transporting VIPs. Volunteers can choose from shifts that begin March 29 and run through April 8. A minimum of two shifts is required as well as attendance at one orientation session either March 25 or 26.  All volunteers will receive an official volunteer uniform and invitation to the Volunteer Appreciation Party on May 22.
