By Cindy Stone Special Contributor We welcomed Angela Martinez and Brian Borgfeld, representatives of PEC, to join us for lunch on Monday. After our meal and announcements, they presented us with PEC’s donation to benefit the Bulverde Senior Center. Monday’s lunch also was attended by guests from Alaska. We enjoyed playing games and visiting friends, followed by a great lunch. We were reminded that the first Monday of the month, the meat dish is provided by the center. We will be having brisket and are asked to bring side dishes and desserts. A pancake breakfast will be held on March 8 from 8 to 11 a.m. We invite all of our neighbors to come by the Bulverde Senior Center on Cougar Bend and have breakfast with us. Pancakes will be served with ham or sausage, juice, coffee and fruit. For a donation of $5 for an adult and $3 for a child, you can enjoy all-you-can-eat pancakes. Make a note of the date, so you won’t forget that you don’t have to cook that Saturday morning! We have been advised that the Bulverde United Methodist Church will provide teams of volunteers on March 15 to help those in the community with minor repairs and yard work, who do not have the re-sources to do it themselves. If you need services that can be accomplished in one day, please contact Cynthia Deaton at (830) 980-7745. Or, you can pick up an application at BSC. Completed applications must be in by Wednesday. Don’t forget that Howard Goings, retired from the IRS, is donating his time to help the seniors in the area prepare their income tax returns. He has some information, also, on the upcoming “refund to stimulate the economy.” Howard will be in the craft room until 2 p.m. each Wednesday until April 9. No appointment is necessary, but come prepared to wait for the person ahead of you to finish up with his/her return. If you haven’t paid your 2008 BSC membership dues, please do so right away. The dues are $15 through December. We ask that you fill out a membership form to submit with your dues, so that we can keep our records up to date. This has to be the best bargain you are going to find this year. We guarantee that you’ll meet new friends and share more laughs that you ever would sitting at home watching TV! Calendars of activities are available and you are bound to find a few you’d like. Remember that our facility can be rented for birthday parties, showers, family reunions, or other events.
