Special to the North San Antonio Times San Antonio College Visual Arts & Technology students won 13 ADDY Awards for excellence in advertising design, including “Best of Show” in the student category. The American Advertising Federation (AAF) San Antonio holds the annual ADDY celebration, recognizing excellence in the advertising produced by agencies, freelancers, and students. According to associate professor Brook Rosser, “San Antonio College students’ winning entries consisted of advertising campaigns, posters, logos, typographic booklet designs, web design and photography.” The student winners were Daniel O. Gomez (silver ADDY for stationery package, a silver for brochure/annual report, and a gold for interactive media); Alejandra Sofia Gracia (gold for brochure/annual report Best in Show); Christina Harwell (gold for brochure/annual report and gold for consumer trade magazine ad); Karen White (silver for collateral material, poster); Luke Garza (gold for consumer trade magazine ad; silver for consumer trade magazine ad; silver for elements of advertising, logo); Lewis Paul Sanders (silver for consumer trade magazine ad); Tamara Pinzon (silver for elements of advertising, logo); and Tim Pierdolla (gold for elements of advertising, photography). Pierdolla is a student of Instructor Rebecca Dietz, Daniel Gomez’ Web design was under the direction of assistant professor Liu Qing, and the other winners are students of Brook Rosser. The gold ADDY winners will automatically go on to compete in the statewide competition and will be awarded Bev Coiner scholarships.
