The Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. Monday San Antonio’s Magik Theatre performs a 4 p.m. dramatic interpretation of Harper Lee’s classic “To Kill a Mockingbird. The 1962 film starring Gregory Peck and featuring Robert Duvall won Oscars including Best Actor in a Leading Role (Peck) and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium (Horton Foote). Tuesday Robert Rummel-Hudson will discuss and sign copies of “Schuyler’s Monster: A Father’s Journey with His Wordless Daughter” at 7 p.m. at Barnes and Noble Booksellers, De Zavala Road and Interstate 10 West. . March 22 Join Nature Conservancy of Texas Botanist Bill Carr, an authority on native plants of Central Texas, for a “nature walk” scheduled 9 a.m. to noon at Government Canyon State Natural Area.
