Students in fifth through eighth grades are invited to experience “A Day in the Life of the Button Band.”

It is a band camp at Central Catholic High School on April 19. It will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camp is free.

It will give students the opportunity to explore instrumental music through icebreakers, musical family stations and marching games.

The camp concludes with a performance for parents. Lunch and a camp T-shirt will be provided. Previous musical training is not required.

Central Catholic High School’s “Mighty Button Band” was organized in 1935.

Today, it includes students from Providence High School. Components of the band include: The Button Big Band; the Marching Band, Concert Band and one of only two JROTC Bands in the state.
