OLMOS PARK Car thief doesn’t get away Feb. 25, 5:20 p.m., 4100 block of McCullough: A car owner reported the driver’s-side door lock of her car had been damaged, as was the steering column and ignition. She was able to start and drive the car and said nothing was missing. Burglar gets grands at Gold Feb. 26, 2:44 p.m., 4100 block of McCullough: An officer on patrol noticed the right passenger-side window of a car in a store parking lot had been broken out. The officer located the owner inside the Julian Gold store and said he had arrived at 1:30 p.m. When asked if anything was missing the owner said a grocery bag containing $2,500 in a bank envelope was missing. The officer also saw there was broken glass on the pavement and what appeared to be pry marks on the door frame of the vehicle. Two witnesses came forward to say they had seen suspicious activity going on near the vehicle, and gave a description of two men and a vehicle that were in the vicinity during the time the money was stolen. Thief goes for car parts Feb. 26, 5:09 p.m.; 5300 block of McCullough: A car owner called police when she noticed her car was making very loud noises. She looked under the car and discovered someone had stolen the catalytic converter from the vehicle. The reporting officer confirmed that the converter has been sawed off, but nothing else was missing. Shoplifter makes run for it Feb. 27, 2:37 p.m., 4200 block of McCullough: A shop owner reported that she saw a woman grab approximately 50 clothing items off a rack in front of her store and run to a waiting car, which then was driven off. TERRELL HILLS Thief lifts ladder Feb. 22, 3:30 p.m., 500 block of Grandview: A groundskeeper stopped a patrol car to report a 6-foot metal ladder had been stolen from a residence where he was working. He later saw four men trimming trees nearby after he returned from an errand. Returning again later, he saw the men and the ladder were gone. Working together nets bad guys Feb. 26, 1:48 a.m., 100 block of Burr: While monitoring the Alamo Heights Police Department radio transmissions, a THPD officer went to assist with a traffic stop when it appeared the vehicle was not going to stop. An AHPD officer came on the radio and said an occupant of the car had just bailed out of the vehicle in the 100 block of Burr, had a gun, and was running across a restaurant parking lot. Police from Olmos Park were also called in to assist. The officer came to assist the AHPD officer who had four suspects still inside the car. All four suspects were taken into custody. With the help of K-9 units from the San Antonio Police Department, the other suspect was located hiding behind a fence. Ignoring repeated commands to lie on the ground, the K-9 handler directed his dog to engage the suspect, grabbing hold of the suspect’s lower extremities until he complied. The suspect was taken to the AHPD for processing.
