A former city council member’s name has become eligible as a write-in candidate for Selma’s general election May 10.
Charles Eads, who departed council last year, is available for Place 2.
Neither current representative Robert Stevens nor any other resident filed for Place 2 by the March 10 deadline. Monday marked a deadline for write-in candidates. Without opponents, Mayor Jim Parma and Place 3 council member Ken Harris will retain their positions.
Selma voters will still have a special election May 10 for reauthorization of a sales use tax, to continue funding maintenance and repair of local streets.
