McCollum High School senior Brittany Sierra Loza recently received a $1,000 scholarship from Security Service Federal Credit Union.

The credit union will formally recognize Loza and 11 other recipients for their scholastic accomplishments on April 10 at the Doubletree Airport Hotel.

“Brittany is incredibly talented,” said David Reynolds, Security Service president and chief executive officer. “More importantly, she is a great example of hard work, integrity and determination. We’re happy to be able to help her achieve her dreams.”

Loza plans to attend Cornell University and study business management. She was the president of the National Honor Society, historian of her class council and a member of both the Science Olympia and Key clubs.

Loza was ranked fourth out of her class of 327 and hopes to go into hotel management.

The presentation is part of the Security Service scholarship program, which has awarded more than $128,000 to more than 180 college-bound students in the last 18 years.

Students are chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, character and community involvement.
