Adolpho Castillo, a student at Schreiner University in Kerrville, spent Spring Break in Louisiana with classmates. Castillo is a graduate of Harlandale High School.

The students spent their break volunteeting. They helped clean debris and rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

The volunteers were coordinated by actor Brad Pitt and former President Bill Clinton. It was an effort to unite college students in volunteerism.

Schreiner University’s Campus Ministry Rev. Gini Norris-Lane coordinated the efforts from Kerrville. The students did have a day to shop and visit the sights and bring home some souvenirs.
