Writer George Jean Nathan (1882-1958) once wrote: “Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote.”

With local, state and national elections looming, the Chamber of Commerce urges you to vote, and if you are not registered, you still have time to register to vote in Texas. Stop by the Kendall County Courthouse at 201 E. San Antonio Ave. to register. Your registration becomes effective 30 days after it has been submitted and approved.

The Chamber’s Governmental Affairs Council is hosting a Candidate Forum luncheon at the Boerne Convention and Community Center on April 17 beginning at 11:30 a.m.

All the candidates for both Boerne City Council and the Boerne Independent School District’s board of trustees have been invited to speak and share their vision for Boerne’s future.

The four candidates running for City Council will be asked two questions on issues that emerged from a recent chamber survey of members. We anticipate that the candidates will remain on site immediately following the forum to meet attendees and answer other questions as time allows. The four candidates up for election as BISD trustees will also speak and have the opportunity afterwards to answer your questions.

This is always a sold-out luncheon so call the chamber early for reservations or, even better, go on-line to www.boerne.org and place your reservations and pay on-line with a credit card. Luncheon tickets are priced at $20 for chamber members and $30 for non-members.

Catering will be provided by Spinelli’s Vistro & Country Inn. Come and meet those who are vying for positions of leadership in our community so you can make informed decisions before you go to the polls to cast your ballot.

More than 500 people enjoyed the delicious offerings of local restaurants, caterers and beverage partners at last Friday’s Taste of the Hill Country Mixer.

From the succulent prime rib offered by Jimmy Lynn’s caterers to the ocean of seafood produced by the Hungry Horse, from the mountains of luscious little muffins presented by Boerne Grill to the elegant Chicken Cordon Bleu offered by the Creek Restaurant, attendees at the mixer were treated to the best food Boerne has to offer.

El Rio’s margaritas were in very high demand, as was the array of various vintages wines presented by Water2Wine.

If residents and visitors didn’t know where to wine and dine before they attended this fabulous mixer, they all know now. Treats from Cheesy Jane’s, Fair Oaks Ranch Country Club, Fresh Horizons Creative Catering, Fritze’s BBQ & Catering, My Hill Country Kitchen, Perfect Events, Sidelines Sports Bar & Grill, Tapatio Springs Resort & Conference Center, and Whataburger, Kendall County Fair Association, Phillip Renfroe & Rickert, CPA’s and Plaza Package Liquors all contributed to the huge success of this event. The chamber is so grateful to its member restaurants, caterers and beverage partners for their generosity every year. Frost Bank was the sponsor for the mixer and live music by Mystic Sister was enjoyed.
