San Antonio District 8 Councilwoman Diane Cibrian considers the northern Interstate 10 corridor to be “the absolute hottest part of San Antonio.” Cibrian hosted a bus tour of the region with business and community leaders on Friday.

CPS Energy sponsored the tour.

Major stops along the way were The Rim shopping center, The Shops at La Cantera, Valero Energy headquarters, the Post Oak development, USAA and the Medical Center. Cibrian also pointed out new Northside Independent School District projects and commended the district on national recognitions recently received.

“The Rim is going to help shape the landscape of the city,” Cibrian said. The shopping center is expecting tremendous growth, including a boutique village and the city’s first five-star hotel.

La Cantera will see more retail development and Town Center at La Cantera, a large, multi-use expansion to the east of the mall. Other areas along La Cantera Parkway are to be developed for retail and office use.

Cibrian will host a Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Clark High School Cafeteria at 5150 De Zavala Road. Topics to be discussed involve infrastructure needs for District 8.
