Two Trinity University divers earned Honorable Mention All-America honors recently on the 3-meter and 1-meter boards at the NCAA Division III Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

First-year diver Hayley Emerick finished ninth on the 3-meter with a score of 443.65 and senior Lauren Walstad was 10th with a mark of 434.90.

Emerick registered a score of 420.35 in the 1-meter competition March 13. She previously was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Diver of the Year. Emerick won the 1-meter (475.40) and 3-meter (496.05) boards – at Southlake in February - setting SCAC records in both events.

Walstad came in at No. 14 on the NCAA 1-meter board with a score of 374.10. Walstad became an Honorable Mention All-American for the third consecutive year. She was a two-time SCAC Female Diver of the Year, earning the recognition in 2006 and 2007.

Senior Leta Gatton placed 18th in 200-yard freestyle swimming March 15 with a time of 52.78 seconds. Earlier in the meet, Gatton swam the 100-yard freestyle in 1:54.65 and a No. 17 finish. Gatton missed the consolation final group by just .13 seconds. She won the two SCAC events, capturing the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.46 seconds and the 200-yard freestyle at 1:53.77. Both times broke SCAC records in each event.
