ImageBurbank High School’s Future Farmers of America participated in the city’s 13th annual Basura Bash on March 29.

Basura Bash is an event where volunteers work to clear the San Antonio River, as well as the city’s creeks of trash and debris. Basura means “trash” in Spanish. Volunteers picked up trash and recyclables, including plastics, paper, bottles and cans.

Other materials ranged from cigarette butts to plastic shopping and grocery bags.

The students from Burbank cleaned up an area near the high school off South Flores Street, behind Bolner’s Meat Market.

Afterwards they attended festivities at Mission County Park. The students are an important part of the agricultural science program at Burbank High School.
