Alicia Garcia, director of campus ministry at Central Catholic High School, has been promoted to assistant principal for academics. She will assume her new duties on July 1.

The assistant principal for academics is responsible for managing the school’s curriculum and academic policies. She will also recruit teaching and ancillary staff and supervise the faculty development and mentorship programs.

Garcia has been on staff at Central Catholic since 1996. She first taught religion, before being named director of campus ministry.

Garcia also served on the administrative council. Previously, she served as director of religious education at St. Jude’s Catholic Church.

Garcia has a bachelor’s degree in theology from St. Mary’s University, as well as a master’s degree in moral theology. She is currently pursuing a master’s of education in school administration from Trinity University.

She was recently honored with the 2006 Marianist Heritage Award, Central Catholic’s highest honor recognizing characteristics of leadership, service, school spirit and spirituality.
