Once again Helotes has become a better place to live due to the actions of a young man who has unselfishly given to the community. Helotes will soon benefit from its first playground at the Parrigin Park. When completed, this playground/park will have something to offer to all members of our community: playgrounds for toddlers and kids, ball courts for youth and young adults, shaded areas for parents to oversee their children, and a perimeter walking/jogging track that will provide a safe path for the junior and senior members of our community to get exercise. It is this perimeter path that was designed, mapped and laid out by this young man as the final project to become an Eagle Scout. As part of his project he organized the services of fellow scouts, family members, community volunteers, and the Helotes Parks and Open Space Committee, to make the path a reality. He arranged for all supplies, drinks and meals to be donated, at no cost to the city. His actions have gone a long way toward making the Parrigin Playground/Park a reality for future generations of Helotes children and families. For all these actions, and much more, I want to recognize Troy Walker, Eagle Scout, for giving to the community and making Helotes a better place to live. Ron Green San Antonio
