Special to the Bulverde News

The 50th anniversary of National Library Week will be observed April 13 to19.

In commemoration of this special year, Comal ISD librarians decided to promote the importance of reading with the help of some senior district administration and school board members, who selected their favorite children’s book and posed for pictures that were made into READ posters.

Comal ISD’s READ posters will be on display in the district’s Support Services Center and in school libraries throughout April.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries – school, public, academic and special – participate.
