Future Symphony Belles Addie Hawn, Elva Rapanotti, Allison Chisenhall, Lacey Thurmond, Sloane Kateman and Mamie Barnes By Carole Miller
The social scene this week was all about looking and feeling fabulous.
It all began at the home of Peggy Pace who sponsored a lovely party for a new branch of the Women’s Leadership Council (She’s the president). Along with former WLC President Kye Fox, I hobnobbed with up-and-coming members of San Antonio society Caty Wirth, Ashley Stone, Maggie Boosalis, Sarah Fox, Sarah Phipps, Julie Johnson, Heather Stetson, Alisse Dulaney and Monnie Emery. Caty Wirth, Ashley Stone, Peggy Pace, Maggie Boosalis, Kye Fox, Sarah Fox and Sarah Phipps gather at a meeting for the United Way's The Women's Legacy. The WLC began as a United Way initiative launched in the fall of 1999 by local socialite Joci Straus. The council then launched The Women’s Legacy in 2004 to focus donations on strengthening families, preventing child abuse and neglect and early childhood care and education. And next, all my gorgeous gal pals were at the Party des Chapeaux luncheon and style show – where fabulous hats are a requirement. Party Chairs Kathleen LeFlore and Shannon Turner threw a great party at the Argyle Club that also included a fashion show by Julian Gold. Francie Calgaard and Tricia Steves (better known as Kathleen and Francie's moms) at the Chapeaux Brunch In addition to being tres chic, the event raised money for the Reaching Families Facing Autism program affiliated with Any Baby Can. My friend Meggan Leonard, the mother of an autistic son, was the featured speaker and delivered a touching speech that brought everyone to tears. And speaking of bringin’ it, this party also brought out some of San Antonio’s best-dressed women including Francie Calgaard, Tricia Steves, Melinda Hart, Katie McDonough, Laura Guglielmo, Marybeth Mosbacker, Shannon Wingrove, Anita Allison, Danna Dunn, Elizabeth Hale, Paola Lloyd, Josie Flescher, Lisa Nash, Lisa Wolff, Kelly Strange, Lisa Ray, Laura Schuhmacher, Lee Ann Kelly and Julie Dudley. The week ended with the Symphony League Style Show and Luncheon. (A girl can never be too stylish. And this girl can never turn down mini-quiches and mimosas.) Lisa Nash, Joy Fuhrmann, Lisa Wolff, Kim Winton and Kelly Strange at the Brunch des Chapeaux Lisa Ortiz was the chairman of this fashionable event honoring past, present and future Symphony Belles. The freshman Belles even served as models during the Julian Gold style show. Before lunch, I ran into Symphony League President Bonnie Gittinger, Belle Development Director Lisa Caldwell, Frank Gittinger, Marilyn Faye, Carolyn Wiedeman, Doris Townsend, Margaret King Stanley and Edith McAllister. And I got to meet cute “Belles of the Future” Addie Hawn, Elva Rapanotti, Allison Chisenhall, Lacey Thurmond, Sloane Kateman, Mamie Barnes, Mary Haley Clement, Caroline Harness, Carrie Schimpff and Megan Mendez. Lisa Ray, Laura Schuhmaker, LeeAnn Kelly and Julie Dudley brunched at the Argyle. And while I’m on the subject of being cute and fashionable, I just have to mention how great my hair looks after I stopped by to see Ric Marmolejo (my own, personal Edward Scissorhands). Thanks for the miracle! Mary Haley Clement, Caroline Harness, Carrie Schimpff and Megan Mendez at the Symphony League Style Show and Luncheon
