Major issues:

Conserving resources: Natural resource conservation is mandatory. We must learn to use our water resources wisely. Conservation plans, growth management and use of low water landscapes will be required if we are to continue to grow and expand.

Communication: Our citizens have asked for more communication between the council and themselves. We have to learn to be more proactive in addressing this need and use technology to cross this divide.

Personal statement:

“My family and I lived in Fair Oaks Ranch in its first days (July 1979 to July 1984). We thoroughly enjoyed the environment and lifestyle we experienced those five years and were so disappointed when I was transferred in 1984. When I retired in 1993, it was a unanimous decision to return to the edge of the Hill Country, which we did when our home was completed in April 1995.

“I have been involved with the city since our return. I volunteered to work on flood plain issues in 1995 and moved to the city planning committee in 1996. I have served as an alderman since May 1997.

“Boots” (Gaubatz) asked me to oversee water issues as my council assignment. I was intimately involved in the city’s purchase of the water and sewer utility from the developer. I worked with Frank Corte’s staff during the development of the state legislation that enacted the Trinity Glen Rose Water Conservation District in 1999 and served as an interim director until the district was successfully authorized by the voters.

“I have been involved with the Western Canyon Regional Water Supply Project (WCRWSP) since its inception. After 10 years of debate, this project began delivering treated water to its customers in May 2006. I’ve served as mayor pro tem since the untimely death of our only mayor to date. I plan to continue his legacy if elected.”
