Major issues:

Sustainability of the aquifer: Continuous update of the district’s 30-year management plan through ongoing research, additional monitoring wells, and hydro-geologic studies to ensure that the aquifer is preserved for future generations

Protection of the aquifer: The district maintains a well inspection, plugging, logging and monitoring program to ensure that wells are constructed in conformance with best practices to exceed TCEQ requirements.

Education: Encourage conservation and reuse, along with development of alternative resources, including surface water use, increased recharge and rain water harvesting.

Drought management: Enforcement of water restrictions during seasonal or extended periods of drought to minimize aquifer drawdown.

Personal statement:

“I have served as the District 2 representative and board president for the past six years. During this period we have accomplished the confirmation vote for the district’s creation, the drafting and approval of the district’s first 30-Year Management Plan, well monitoring contracts with the U.S. Geological Service, well inspection and logging requirements. No residential wells are charged registration or pumping fees; all of our operations are financed strictly by pumping fees charged to commercial operations. We operate efficiently on a limited budget, with no compensation to the board members. I would like to continue to serve the residents and protect this precious resource.”
