The Smithson Valley Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble attended the UIL Concert Band contest held at the Judson Performing Arts Center April 2 and April 3. Both groups received superior ratings in concert and sight-reading.

The SVHS band, under the direction of Jeff Lightsey, has the distinction of being a “sweepstakes” band for receiving superiors at both UIL contests held during the 2007-2008 school year which include marching, concert and sight-reading.
