Baseball The Greyhounds meet Edison at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the SAISD baseball field for the opening game of a best-of-three bi-district playoff series. Game two will be played at the same location at 2 p.m. Saturday. If needed, a third game will get underway at 6:30 p.m. Boerne wrapped up its district schedule with an 11-0 win over Fredericksburg. Zack Burdick threw a no-hitter in his first start of the season and Sam Lampe drove in five runs. Track & Field The Boerne women finished 14th in the team standings and the Boerne men’s team finished 10th at the Region IV-4A meet in San Antonio. Pole vaulter Austin Freeman had the highest finish for the Hounds with a leap of 14 feet, 6 inches that initially tied for second, but had to settle for third on a tie-breaker. Colin Thomas placed third in high jump with a jump of 6 feet,6 inches. Ethan Doherty took third in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 1:57.25 that was only about a second back of first place. Madeline Hurdt took third in discus with a personal best 123 feet,7 inches and placed seventh in shot put with a personal best 37 feet, 11 ? inches. Delissya Dew, Kendra Syzmerek, Ashley Hacker, Kenzie Syzmerek and alternate Karlie Fischer won a bronze medal in the 400-meter relay with a new school record time of 49.51. Golf The Boerne men’s golf team just missed a trip to the state tournament despite a strong showing at last week’s Region IV tournament at the Golf Club of Texas. Alamo Heights took first place with a team score of 308. Lake Travis shot 310 to finish second and Boerne was seven back in third place at 315. Ben Troester paced the Hounds with rounds of 75-74 for a two-day total of 149. Taylor Meadows (77-73) carded a 150, Ian Evans (74-79) shot 153, Ethan Noel (80-84) finished at 164 and Eric Davidson (86-84) scored 170. Senior Brittany Reynolds qualified for the women’s regional as an individual. Reynolds, who has been playing for less than a year, shot 96 and 98 for a two-day total of 194 that placed her about midway in the standings.
