The Run for the Hills 5K Run will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. Check in and registration will be at 7 a.m. at the Bulverde Senior Center. If your entry fee has not been prepaid, the fee is $20 on site.

A T-shirt will be given to each participant. There will be awards for the top three male and top three female runners in each group. A traveling plaque will be presented to the school/home school with the most participants, and a plaque will go to the business with the most participants.

The race is sanctioned by USA Track and Field, and cosponsored by the Bulverde/Spring Branch Chamber of Commerce and the Bulverde Senior Center. This is a day you won’t want to miss!

There will be a mobile unit from South Texas Blood and Tissue Center in the BSC parking lot between 9 a.m. and noon during the 5K run taking donations for “Save Our Summer” needs. Anyone who donate blood two times between May 1 and Sept. 30 will receive a $20 H-E-B gift card, and will also be entered into a drawing for a four pack of Sea World silver passports!

It was a full house at the Bulverde Senior Center on Monday for games, followed by a pot-luck luncheon. Those attending enjoyed learning about inheritance law from our after-lunch speaker, attorney Larry Shallcross.

The Smithson Valley High School PALS group has been so great this year, we hate to see school end! The last event for this school year was a senior prom. A wonderful time was had by all who attended. Lura and Bill Wurzbach were chosen queen and king of the prom.

The PALS also presented a style show, which everyone enjoyed. No doubt that we will miss our PALS and we wish them a happy summer. We will look forward to seeing the students who will return to us for another year and meet new students who will take the place of the graduating seniors for the next school year.

Mal McClinchie attended the Spring Branch/Bulverde Leadership get-together at the GVTC Auditorium on April 23. He represented the Bulverde Senior Center, giving a presentation on our history and current projects. We appreciate Mal representing BSC and sharing our accomplishments.

On April 25, members of the BSC table tennis group competed in the Kerrville senior games. They competed in both singles and doubles categories. The following members won gold, silver or bronze medals: Ralph Dietert, Herb Uecker, Art Owens, Tony Bailey and Loren Williams. Congratulation to all! And a special thanks to Tonie Rogers who got this activity started at BSC.

For those who have not heard, we now have our own Web site up and running. It is a work in progress and there are still areas to be completed. We invite you to visit us at www.bulverde-seniorcenter.com for information on activities, membership, etc. We would be interested in feedback and suggestions that we might incorporate as we develop the site.
