Special to the Southside Reporter Harlandale Independent School District is offering several free classes for adults, including: 100 hours of Spanish Computer: In this four month course, participants will learn about Microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, e-mail and internet usage. The class is conducted completely in Spanish. ESL classes utilizing the Rosetta Stone Computer Program and Sed de Saber program. Participants in these ESL classes will be assessed to determine their level of English proficiency and will be placed in an ESL program that best suits their needs. There are six books that the students will be covering in an effort to learn English. Elementary and Middle School Certification from the Mexican government: These programs are comparable to a GED program and are primarily geared for those Mexican nationals who did not complete their elementary or middle school certification. Course work in math, science, social studies and language arts is provided for every grade level. Parents in the community are encouraged to come by the Plaza Center to view the facilities and offerings, or call 927-8435 or 921-4361. The plaza is located in the round building in front of Collier Elementary at 834 W. Southcross.
