By Nancy Becker Guest Contributor Do you feel like your wonderful new year’s resolutions about getting more exercise have fallen by the wayside? The Bulverde Senior Center offers many activities to get you in shape, strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, mobility, coordination, stamina, balance, and breath control. Many have cardiovascular benefits. There are classes throughout the week, morning, afternoon and evening. Activities range from chair fitness and easy-pace aerobics to muscle strengthening, stability ball/pilates, Tai Chi and a matter-of-balance class. Also, come to the center on Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. and get your exercise and fun through our table tennis group. Special fitness challenges are offered through the year. One example is our recent eighth annual Walk Across Texas program. Forty students from the easy-pace classes took part and had six weeks to complete the program. This program helped many of us realize how physically active we are the entire day or if we need to be more active. If you are looking for ways to increase your exercise activities, call or come by for information on the great classes offered. Check our Web site at www.bulverdeseniorcenter. com. Please note that our picnic in the park on Monday has been moved to the BSC and will begin at 9:30 a.m. BSC will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs, grilling them in the center’s back yard for an indoors picnic. Members are requested to bring side dishes appropriate for picnic fare. We look forward to a big attendance for this once-a-year event. Dana Mynier and Loraine Little recently agreed to co-chair our gift shop. They have rearranged the shop and are adding new things. Donations of new or gently used items, excluding clothing, will be accepted if space permits. All proceeds benefit the BSC.
