Thirteen proved to be a lucky number for the 2008 Boerne Greyhound baseball team, which landed a league-leading, baker’s dozen players on the All-District 27-4A squad following a vote by coaches. The Hounds also led district schools with seven players on the first team. Boerne, the district’s second-place team, outpaced district champion Kerrville Tivy in both total number of selections and first-teamers. Tivy placed six first-teamers and 12 players in all on the elite squad. Junior pitcher Barrett Houser, junior first baseman Zach Burdick, junior outfielder Drew Roumelis, senior outfielder Kyle Sulak, junior designated hitter Josh Sepulveda, sophomore utility player Taylor Davis and senior third baseman Brian Brademan earned first team honors for the Hounds, with Houser and Roumelis both unanimous selections. Junior pitcher Niko Gonzales, sophomore catcher Chad Long, senior shortstop Trevor Bergin and senior outfielder Blair Kessler earned spots on the second team. Senior second baseman Sam Lampe and senior catcher Joel Warren earned honorable mention all-district. Boerne finished the year with an overall record of 25-11.
