A local organization dedicated toward enriching the lives of local senior citizens received a helping hand from The GVTC foundation. On Tuesday, foundation members presented a $1,200 check to Habitat for Safe Seniors.

Rondah Savage, HSS staff member, said unlike other specialized organizations that meet only a single need, Habitat for Safe Seniors provides a variety of services that are centered on food delivery, essential home repairs and yard maintenance.

HSS also provides bingo and other activities for the seniors on a regular basis. The organization began in 2004 and now serves more than 300 elderly in the Canyon Lake area.
