Friday

Grey Forest Farmer’s Market will be held Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Scenic Loop Playground Club, 18249 Sherwood Trail, Grey Forest. Some of the items you will find include: fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, jams and jellies, pecans, grass-fed beef, free-range chicken, honey, natural scrubs, Texas-grown plants, lavender-related items, cards and ecology-friendly market bags.

Saturday

TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) of wild cats will be explained at a workshop to be held at the Bulverde/Spring Branch Library, 131 Bulverde Crossing, Bulverde (near Home Depot) on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. There will be explanations, tips and instructions on how to safely and humanely reduce the free-roaming cat population in your community. The workshop will explain everything you need to know about the TNR process, free loan of traps, low-cost spay/neuter options, recovery protocols after spay/neuter surgery, how to help solve cat nuisance problems and safely manage outdoor cat populations.

Boerne Parks and Recreation’s 2008 Summer Scene presents a night of live music with H!X at Boerne’s Main Plaza. H!X is a band from San Antonio that puts a funky fun twist on rock ‘n roll. Leon Springs Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p. m. at the Leon Springs Dance Hall, 24135 W. Interstate 10, in the parking lot (Boerne Stage Road exit, across from Rudy’s Barbecue). Vendors offer plants, herbs and a variety of edibles, from fresh produce to honey, nuts, breads, jams and jellies. July 18

Boerne Community Theatre presents “A Little Off the Top,” a comedy by Texas playwright Carl Williams at Boerne Community Theatre, 907 E. Blanco. Two bald bachelors decide to purchase and share a toupee to win girlfriends. The results are a bit hairy! Performances are July 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 26, 27, 31, Aug. 1 and Aug. 2. Performances are: Thursdays at 7: 30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are now on sale and cost $13 to $15. July 26-27

Sisterdale Trade Days. Come enjoy a weekend of arts, crafts, food and fun in beautiful downtown Sisterdale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Trade Days will also procede on the last weekend of every month. Interested vendors should call (830) 431-0050.

July 29

Boerne Village Band, the oldest German-American band in the world, offers Abendkonzerts (evening concerts) in the summer months. This is the last 2008 performance. The concert will be held at Boerne Main Street Plaza gazebo at 7:30 p.m. Drinks, tapes and CDs are available for purchase. Bring lawn chairs or other seating. Donations are welcome.

Aug. 16

UTSA’s annual Alumni Gala is set Aug. 16 beginning at 6:15 p.m. This is a signature fundraising event for the UTSA Alumni Scholarship Fund. This year’s gala, Reflections, will recognize the 2008 Alumnus of the Year and recipient of the Distinguished Service Award along with special recognition for past Alumnus of the Year and Distinguished Service award recipients during an evening that includes a silent auction, dinner and dancing to Newsboyz. The gala will be held at the Westin La Cantera Resort, La Cantera Parkway at Interstate 10 West near Loop 1604 North.
