The GVTC Foundation, which has donated more than $180,000 to the community since forming in December 2007, is under new leadership.

Ola Armstrong, GVTC, director of public relations, was unanimously elected president by The GVTC Foundation board members on July 9. Her term as president runs through Decem-ber 2009.

Armstrong is a founding board member and also co-chairs The GVTC Founda-tion’s donation oversight committee. Armstrong says she’s thrilled about this opportunity and her first priority will be to encourage even more GVTC employees to get involved with the foundation.

“We have hard working, talented people at GVTC and we value their abilities to maximize our efforts to help the community,” said Armstrong.

Ritchie Sorrells, GVTC president and CEO, said Armstrong is the right choice to lead foundation.

“Ola has the credentials to fulfill the expectations of the foundation when it was first created,” said Sorrells. “I’m confident her leadership will guide The GVTC Foundation.”

Armstrong is well known for her many years of volunteerism and has been recognized with numerous awards for her community involvement. She has also held board positions with PEC, Bulverde/ Spring Branch Chamber and Canyon Lake Chamber of Commerce.
