Special to the Southside Reporter A ceremony for the completion of phase one of the Goliad Road reconstruction project took place on July 10. The $5.6 million project, part of a 1994 drainage bond, reconstructed Goliad Road, from Lasses Street, to just south of Military Drive. Other funding sources were 1985 and 2003 revenue bonds. Roadway improvements include 6-foot sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches and underground storm system to relieve drainage problems on Goliad. Future phases will reconstruct Goliad from Lasses to Pecan Valley Drive. Construction began in 2006 and was completed this spring.
