The Canyon Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Tuesday held its long-anticipated Serve and Protect Program Fundraising Mixer to benefit the Canyon Lake Fire and EMS Services. The event, held at and hosted by Vintage Oaks at the Vineyard and attended by more than 130, included not only a lot of meeting and greeting but a basket auction and a special wine tasting from Hill Country Wine Trails Wineries.

Money raised from the event will be presented to local fire and EMS officials next week, said Mandy Stewart, chamber president, noting equipping each firefighter costs approximately $3,000 apiece. Stewart added that few firefighters were able to attend the fundraiser because most were busy fighting a blaze near the event.
