By Joni Simon Contributing Writer There was no other way for Jody Daniel to describe to Fair Oaks Ranch City Council what it sounded like behind his home on No Le Hace. “Bam! Beep! Beep!” he said. “It sounds like a construction site with all of those Bobcats, back hoes and dumpsters.” The city’s waste treatment plant was there before the residences, but Daniel said he didn’t know what it was when he first bought his house, which borders 60 percent of the plant. “And then you have the smell,” Daniel said. City Council on July 17 directed City Administrator Roy Thomas to look into the noise and address the issue of the odor that emits from the plant. Thomas said although the city has never been in violation, it has currently received complaints about odor more frequently than in the past. With one “nay” vote, the council approved the city administrator’s suggestion to purchase shrubbery for one resident whose “back porch sits on the boundary of the plant,” now enclosed on that side by a chain link fence. “The shrubs won’t solve the odor problem, but it does address the aesthetic problem,” Thomas said. The greenery will cost the city $250.
